Under the weather

Poor JE caught the virus two weeks back from her brother who was recovering from viral fever and cold. She had seen GP once and PD thrice. She was asked by the PD to be on nebuliser for 10 days and she had finally recovered though still phlegmy. Her milk intake had also dropped drastically between 50 - 90ml for the past two weeks. Just JE's medical bills alone is already $500 (exclude the recent vaccinations - $210). She is slowly drinking 120ml now. Hope she goes back to her regular 150ml or more. We love to see a chubby and fit fit JE.

As for YX, he is diagnosed having nose and lung allergy and has to be on long term medication. Poor boy has been coughing early this year before chinese new year. His medical bills for the past 3 months are also hitting $500. He had been on Dhatifen for a few months on off and now he has to take Nasonex and Flixotide puff on a daily basis (a course of 6-9 mths) till we see some improvement. Should he have cough fits, he is to take the Ventolin puff to relieve. On top of that, one packet of Singulair is $3.50 and a month's supply is $98. He had been on that for 3 weeks a month back and now another one month. It pains me to see the kids sick. YX hates the Nasonex as it makes him uncomfortable and every time I pump it into his nose, he'll have the urge to vomit. I have to give him a hug or I would say he gives me a comforting assuring hug in return... Tears are starting to well now that I am posting this. Poor boy, I truly pray and wish that you get well soon. Is it me who is failing in taking proper care of you? I've tried very hard to give you my best. Please please... get well soon!

i think diff PD prescribe differently
for D.. he is to take Ventolin on a daily and reg basis
and Flixotide is steroid.. so its not taken on reg basis

you must really be very strict with his food. no cold stuffs, sweets, artificial colouring food and also strawberry. chinese believe no chicken n egg which my PD think is bull shit lah

D took quite sometime to ovecome sensitive airway allergy which started last year. this year.. not much of attack

hi

I hv been reading YX blog for awhile and coincidentally my elder boy is the same age as YX (just a few days apart) and I hv got another boy who is abt 2 mths older than ur girl.

I can understand how u feel when ur kids are not feeling well. You hv been a great mum to ur child as I can tell from what you hv done for them particularly for YX. Like the healthy bento that u hv done for him..I hope I can be like u too. So don't take it too hard as I am sure YX will be happy when he see you being happy too :)

Thank you for your encouragement and advice, Mummies! I'm glad I'm not alone...

Ds' mum,
It's difficult to control what YX takes as most of the day as he'll be at the child care centre. I do inform the teacher to avoid giving him some food especially bananas (thats his favourite!) and cold fruits. He's not coughing much now but I am still monitoring his meals closely.

Anonymous,
Thank you for your encouragement. Wow! Our kids are the same age. Do email me to say hello ") We can have playdates for them! My email's lyntey@ymail.com

Cass and Ris,
In case you are reading the comments, I wanna thank you both too for sharing your experience and recommendations.

Hugs!

Maybe it is just common for little kids to have sensitive airway...mine too. have been coughing and occasion running nose...for the past 2 months...I think more to come. But I have changed to chinese medicine already...seems to work better than western. At least she could stop coughing for at least 3-4 days. Western can only stop for 1 day
